SOROTI CITY-WIDE MISSION KICKS OFF WITH COMMUNITY SERVICE AND GOSPEL OUTREACH

The Soroti City-wide Mission, organized by African Evangelistic Enterprise Uganda, began with dedicated groups of missionaries traveling from various parts of Uganda and beyond, including as far as Mombasa, Kenya, and districts across the country. While 63 evangelists have already reached missions grounds, more are still journeying to Soroti expecting the last groups to arrive on Sunday. Those on the grounds arrived safely, eager to reach out to the people of Soroti with the life-transforming message of the Gospel. The event was launched with a city cleaning exercise, symbolizing the missionaries’ commitment to not only spiritual but also community renewal.

The theme of the Soroti City Mission, “Come, Find Rest in Jesus Christ” (Matthew 11:28-29), captures the mission’s goal of bringing hope and peace to the community. It invites those who feel overwhelmed or burdened to find comfort and renewal through faith in Christ. Throughout the week, this theme is reflected in various activities that serve the community.

Each event is designed to show care and support. This provides a space where people can find relief not only for their physical needs but also for their spiritual well-being. The missioners’ aim to offer a message of rest and encouragement, helping the people of Soroti find strength and hope in Jesus Christ during challenging times.

TOWN CLEANING

The Soroti Mission Week kicked off with town cleaning. 45 participants were flagged off by the National Team Leader Rev. Can. Dr. Benson Baguma to clean Agip Market, at the centre of Soroti City. Oude George, a student who participated in the activity expressed his excitement saying that he feels happy serving and giving back to the community.

Okiro Dan, the chairperson of lockups in Agip market says that people of Soroti city welcomes the mission week and he prays that the many people’s lives will be touched by the end of the week.

Musa Oroma, the Assistant RCC for Eastern division said that he was delighted to see a team of different religious leaders come together to clean the city. Musa anticipates that by end of the mission week, a lot of people would change their lives and bringing religious leaders together should be an activity that they are able to do even when AEE leaves the area.

While the town cleaning activity was taking place, the evangelists made the most of the opportunity to connect with the community by sharing the word of God with local vendors and passersby. This outreach resulted in 24 individuals deciding to dedicate their lives to Christ. In total, 150 people were reached through this initiative, creating an impact in the community and setting a positive tone for the rest of the mission week.

A variety of impactful activities is scheduled throughout the week including door-to-door evangelism, a youth praise rally, and an open rally and special leaders’ meeting to empower local leadership. There will also be school and radio ministry to connect with the youth and the broader community, health camp offering blood donation, among others. These activities are designed to reach the community in different ways, encouraging both physical and spiritual well-being as inspired in the words of Matthew 11:28-29: “Come, find rest in Jesus Christ.”
