The Bonga project is a transformative program focused at empowering out-of-school adolescent boys and girls aged 13 to 19, who confront a variety of obstacles including parental neglect, early pregnancy, cultural pressures, and a lack of education. The project’s holistic approach aims to raise their standard of living by providing them with fundamental life skills, literacy, numeracy, and vocational training. Beneficiaries receive life skills training over a six-month period, followed by three months of practical skills training in a variety of trades. After graduating, participants become members of the Bonga Forum, where they can obtain initial funding to launch revenue-generating ventures and take part in community advocacy projects.

Through promoting self-sufficiency, adaptability, and consciousness of important life matters, the Bonga initiative seeks to eliminate the poverty cycle and exploitation, empowering adolescents to lead dignified and fulfilling lives.
