ECCE project focuses on providing quality education for children aged 0-6 and 6-16 in primary schools, recognizing the importance of early childhood education in laying a solid foundation for lifelong learning and well-being. Despite the proven benefits, access to pre-primary education remains limited globally, with Uganda having the lowest access levels in the region.
The project addresses challenges such as limited access to ECCE services, ineffective regulation, low awareness, and inconsistent community engagement. Key objectives include increasing participation of marginalized children, parents, and caregivers in school affairs, enhancing the learning environment through infrastructure improvements, offering soft skills training to educators, providing essential materials to ECD centres, supplying assistive devices to children with disabilities, conducting stakeholder review meetings, and offering guidance and counselling to children for psychosocial support.
